Silly Shayla

Shayla and I went to a baby shower last night. She loved dressing up and going somewhere just for girls.
our conversation on the way there....

Me: "You are such a big girl to get to go with mommy to a baby shower!"

Shayla: "Will we get wet momma?"

Me: "uuummmm what do you mean?"

Shayla: "In the shower, will we get wet?"

Me giggle: "NO, we are going to give a new baby a gift."

Shayla: "For babies?"

Me: "Yep!"

Shayla: "Will Jonathan be there?"

Me: Big lump, little tear....."No honey Jonathan is in Heaven."

Shayla: "I miss him, I wish he could come live with us instead of heaven."

Me: "Me to sweet girl."

Thank you Jesus for my tenderhearted daughter.
The shower was fine and I did not feel super emotional or sad.
My sweet friend Nanette (the mommy of honor) went out of her way to mention Jonathan and tell someone I have six kids.
Thanks Nanette ;)

On the way home Shayla had a meltdown screaming.....
"I want a baby in my tummy."
I said....
"Shayla do you mean you want a baby in mommy's tummy?"
Shayla screaming:"NOOOOOO I want my own!"
LoL

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit

lol Shayla!

I'm glad that the shower wasn't too difficult or emotional for you. I'm impressed that you could go! I skipped my 3 friends' baby showers because they came in the first 3 months after Eve's death and I just couldn't do it. Brave!

That is so sweet!! Your little girl is so pretty!! My four year old Sarah was giving everyone goodnight kisses the other night and when it was my turn she kissed me and my belly and then I guess she remembered and said oh no there's not a baby there anymore!!! Such innocence but it almost made me cry. She seemed almost sad!! Hope you are doing better, praying for you!!!

Shayla is beautiful. So sweet of your friend to mention Jonathan. I love how Shayla wants a baby in her tummy too, so precious.. I'm glad that the shower went ok for you. I am almost dreading my friends shower in a few months even though she is my best friend and I know she will do whatever she can to make it easier for me. Love you friend!

I love how she thought she would get wet! I'm glad you did okay at the shower. Hard for a young girl to crasp so much sadness. ((HUGS))

It is so bittersweet when little ones talk about their babies. She sounds like such a little sweetie:) Glad everything went okay for you.

Sharing your moments of weakness is so strengthening to your faith, and helps spread the grace and comfort of God to others - at least that's how its been for me. My losses were immediate family, but not my children. I think that would be so tough. Blessings!

What a sweet little girl! I'm glad you did well at the shower, it definitely makes it easier when the mom-to-be remembers your own baby. What a nice friend. Your little girl is too cute.

Oh, how precious. My heart is in my throat. I know how heart-wrenching events like this can be.

I have a tender-hearted little one too, she was nearly 3 when we had Oliver, and still to this day, 6 years later, she says the most innocent things that make me yearn for all that we have missed out on.

I'm so glad that the baby shower was gentle on you. How very very sweet of your friend to mention Jonathan and the fact that you do indeed have 6 kids. :) I love your sweet Shayla... being completely honest like kids do. Payton often tells me to tell Jake to come down from Heaven and come home and live with us. They just don't understand how their mommies wish we could do just that. It's sweet that little Shayla wants a new baby... I guess in her little mind that would fix all of you. :)

Have a blessed Monday my friend!

These photos are so so sweet and I am so thankful the shower was okay for you...I remember my first baby shower after Selah (and by God's grace, I could rejoice with the new mama as well)...but it was also hard.

Love how your friend shared about your kiddos...it means so much--doesn't it?
