Lecrae Concert

For Jimmy's Birthday we got him tickets to Lecrae in Hollywood. WOW it was an awesome show! One of my goals for this year was to give less gifts and more experiences, and boy did this one pay off. I am sure our big boys will remember this concert and the fun we had for the rest of their lives!
We were one of the first people in the building, we could of chosen a spot up front on the floor (there are no seat at the Hollywood Palladium) but we decided on the balcony so we could see everything that was going on. I would have to say they were the BEST "seats" in the house because we got to see everything, it was amazing!

I was impressed by Lecrae's message, he pointed to Jesus so many times and shared his testimony throughout the concert on a video. He talked to the audience and said the biggest regret of his life was an abortion his teenage girlfriend had. He also told the men to find a girl that makes them a better man and to get married! Then he showed us his wedding video and totally glorified marriage! Most amazing of all was watching the crowd... lets just say the last time I was at the Palladium (when I was 17) it was a lot of drunk people acting like fools:) This crowd was sober, the girls were all dressed respectable and throughout the concert the whole crowd would burst out cheering, JESUS, JESUS JESUS!!!!

Lecrae is a really wonderful Christian role model and stands up for righteousness in many way, you can learn more about him through this interview.

"My central message is: I’m weak and I admit I need a savior. I’m not a Christian because I’m strong … I’m a Christian because I’m weak and I can admit I need a savior,” he said. “I’m flawed, I’m imperfect. I don’t have it all together. Not an excuse to do stupid stuff, but I can point you to a place where you can find hope and redemption — and it’s not me. -Lecrae

The message I got from the concert was not look to me I am great, but look to Jesus because he is great!

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place1 Chronicles 16:25-29

Fascinating! Like no concert I've been to either. (In my past I've been to a lot of concerts in the Washington DC area - all filled with drunken, and worse, people.) We're needing some fresh, positive music around here - I will check Lecrae out.
