Christmas Letter 2015
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
I pray this letter finds you well, I hope your Christmas was joyful and blessed! My Cards are late this year…What can I say homeschooling six kids, having the flu make its way through our whole family in December, shopping, wrapping and baking set me back a bit, but better late than never!
Well another year has passed…can you believe it?! For us here at the Papik home I would have to describe this year with a song, “ChChCh-Changes” yes a lot has changed this year…After ten years of pastoring in Venice we went home to our mother church in Santa Monica. We are happy to report this was a good change for everyone, our congregation merged with Santa Monica Church and they are being blessed and are being a blessing there. Big Jimmy was confident that this move was what God wanted for our church and our life, and while some tears were shed we are happy knowing we are in the will of God. What I miss most about our pioneer Church is the closeness of a small setting and the fellowship that brings, also hearing my husband preach! For a man that did not start out as a naturally gifted public speaker he became and amazing preacher! Sometimes I wish he would just preach a sermon to me…well an encouraging one anyway (smile)!
Little Jimmy is a senior and 18, can you believe it! He will graduate from our homeschool this year, we are in a public charter independent study program so he will get a Cap and Gown and diploma just like regular public school kids. He has already started his career in His fathers business, he has been a tremendous blessing to our plumbing company since he started full time last summer. He continues to love music and plays in his band “California Aftermath”, and they regularly play concerts. He also plays on the worship team at Youth Group and Church. He is a strong leader and a passionate man that loves the Lord, we are so blessed that he is our firstborn child!
Jesse is 14 and has excelled in skating this year complete with competing and claiming titles like “The Cove King”, in Dogtown! He is dedicated to progressing and is always working on his new tricks. He is sponsored by HD Skate Wax and hopes to gain more sponsorships this year. He continues to excel in school and in pretty much anything he does. Recently he bought a base and is rising up to the challenge from Little Jimmy to learn an instrument. Jesse Is my right hand man and is such a blessing to me, he helps me in many ways I appreciate him so much!
Jadon is 10 and still loves skating and goes often with Jesse. He is a science buff and loves to learn all about earth and natural science. We have recently added nature adventures to our homeschool endeavor and Jadon is flourishing with outdoor, real world learning. He has struggled with dyslexia this year but he has an amazing tutor. We are confident that he will be a successful reader and leader like so many that are blessed with the gift of dyslexia…Thats why Jadon has an uncanny ability to be creative and think outside the box! He is definitely the middle child and sometimes is not sure if he fits in with the little kids or the big boys but honestly he has fun with both and they all adore him! He is such a fun age… a true boy, I love it!
Shayla is my darling 6 year old dancing princess! I feel so blessed that she’s a rough and tumble girl that can play with her brothers but is still so girly. She loves nature hikes, ballet, drawing, she also loves to make cards and we are all the happy recipients of her love through sweet hand written notes. Shayla adores school and is doing wonderful, she is a hard worker and I love teaching her! She is such a mommy to the two little boys and loves to take care of them. One of my favorite things in the whole world to do is go shopping with her even if it’s just to the market, we have so much fun!
Joseph is 4 and has finally crossed over from a wild animal to a remotely human little boy, LOL. Seriously he is much less work than last year but now he has a new partner in crime, Julian…They have recently become best buddies and have so much fun together. Like last week when Jojo shaved a strip of hair all the way down Julian’s head with the buzzers. Yep! Julian just stood there and let him do it:) Joseph is enjoying his last year of free play but loves to have a short school time with mommy and Shayla also. Josephs loves going to the park, the beach and jumping on the trampoline. You can almost always find him with a little new testament Bible in his hand and a toy frog, because thats how he rolls! I can’t wait to see who Joseph turns out to be because he is a pretty amazing kid!
Julian is A-DOR-ABLE! (as Jojo likes to say) seriously he is so cute in look and deed. He warms my heart and brings so much thankfulness and joy to my life, I can just look at him and melt into a pool of joy. He is learning to talk but has a stubborn streak about repeating so you might think you heard him say a sentence, but if you ask him to repeat it he is hush hush. He thinks Jojo and Shayla are the coolest and he’s always doing what they do and doesn't seem to notice that he is “to little”. He has a lot of determination but a soft, sweet spirit that is easily corrected. I am so very thankful for this miracle boy that brought so much healing to my heart.
Big Jimmy’s business is booming, booming, BOOMING! He is not so much a plumber anymore but an amazing business man building a thriving company. He took on 3 employees this year and just added a new truck to his growing fleet. He loves and enjoys his work, he is driven and motivated to do great things and I know he will because he is amazing. Jimmy still loves surfing as much as possible and is looking forward to all the great waves from El Nino this upcoming year. We are so blessed to have such a strong, hardworking daddy and husband that loves Jesus and leads us well! I love him so much and I am so proud of him!
Well that concludes my little recap of our family for the year…The time is going fast and these little tidbits help me look back and remember, but mostly writing this makes me thankful. It pulls me away from the work, the laundry and the chaos to reflect on my life and you know what…It’s a wonderful life! I would not trade for all the riches in the world I am a blessed woman, I know it and above all I thank Jesus for it!
Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life!~ Psalm 128: 2-6
